Poinsettia Christmas Cake

This was my first attempt at making a Poinsettia sugar flower. My original cake design had 3 flowers in varying sizes but even with a 12 inch size cake, having 3 of these large flowers would have never worked so clean and simple it would have to be. This cake went to my pastor for the holiday season.

I made each seperate center using sugar paste and pre-made stamens, dusted them with varying shades of green and red dusting powder I gathered them together in a bunch once dried.  I used powdered red color to get the darker red color, and once assembled i used shimmer dust both on the cake and the flower to get a little bit of shine.

Thank you for stopping by my blog. I hope you enjoy!

OWH Sketches 150 & 151 - ODBD Dec. Challenge-Flowers

Still catching up on my OWH sketches. Fewww...almost there....I'm using this card as my submission for Our Daily Bread December challenge

For this sketch I used various leftover scraps from my scrapbooking. Most of my cards are made from page scraps. Although since the 6 x 6 tutorial I have invested in some pads and have begun to make some cards from those but as any paper crafter I have scraps galore!
I used Lili of the Valley stamp image Bunches of Flowers, Copic markers, Martha Stewart punch Vintage Floral, and a stamped image from Megan Elizabeth

Again, papers from my stash although I do recall the plaid paper from a DCWV boys paper pad I picked up at Michaels, the circle embellishments I picked up through Oriental Trading and I used royal blue embroidery floss.

Jacob's 15th Birthday Cake and Card

My son really likes ninja and karate themes. When I made this card with images cut from the Cricut. I decided to use that for inspiration for the cake. I used the Wilton color mist for the camouflauge look and then cut images using Sports Mania, and Indie Art cartridges. My son calls himself Jacob Shadow Ninja and I recently found out his friends call him JSN for short so, with thinking down the line of an interesting Scrapbook page journal block, I just had to use the initials on his cake. This is the first time I made a matching card and cake and I can foresee I'll do it again.
