Labor Day Weekend VCMP - Saturday Challenges

Hello! Thanks for checking out my challenge cards. I've had a great time meeting the challenges.

Challenge #1- Christmas/Winter theme using the sketch below

Here's the sketch

Here's a close up of the embossing detail I added to the design. I used Winter Wonderland Set by Cuttlebug

Challenge #2 - Make something representing the letters for OWH. In this challenge I used Owls for the O, Wooden Button and words on the pattern paper for the W and the Hello sentiment for the H. I hope you enjoy viewing my card.
I had these owls from another project so i was excited I could use them. They are fro m the Create A Critter catridge.

I had an extra small owl so I added it to the inside of the card.

Challenge #3 - Triple Die Cutting

I wanted to make a Thanksgiving/Fall themed card for this one. I've made this type of card before but this time I did Triple Stamping and created my own patterned paper. I hope you like the card I made for this challenge.
Here's a closeup of the sentiment.

Challenge #4 - Using OWH sketch 29 & make a Love card
This is my interpretation of this sketch. See the sketch below.
Here's the sketch

I hope you enjoyed viewing the cards I've been feverishly making since late this afternoon. I was out all day so I've been playing catch up. Have a great night and see you tomorrow for day 2!

Scrapbook Saturday # 10 - Crop of Friends

Good Morning on this happy Saturday. Today's page is a fond one for me. My friends and family gathered together to spend the weekend making cards and scrapbook pages. We also took time to visit a local sewing shop. We ate way too much food that weekend!

Here is a closeup of the embellishments I cut from Accent Essentials Cricut Cartridge.

I hope you enjoy your Saturday and take time to make something beautiful!

Using My Tools Thursday # 15 - Fuzzy Mustache

Hello and welcome fellow crafters! It's another Thursday and that means more Using My Tools creations! So, I've had this Guy Stack by DCWV and since I've been making guy cards letely I thought I'd challenge myself to use this paper. Although this card doesn't have too many embellishments I tried to make the most of what little I was going to put on the card. You can find a tutorial on how to make a Joy Fold card here. You can also find more tutorials on my tutorial tab here.
What did I use from my stash thats needed a little attention lately? I used some flocking powder: Inkadinkadoo in Coffee Bean, an EK Succes border punch Binding Edge and a wooden button.

I pop dotted the mustache. The flocking powder really makes the mustache unique and so much fun to touch. The Birthday sentiment is from Inkadinkadoo Expressions & Frames set.
oh, I also used Diamond Plate Cuttlebug embossing folder and added a little hand cut mustache as an element inside.

You know whats funny?! My 11 year old daughter just loves mustaches right now and when she saw the card. She said "Can you give me this card for my birthday?"  That's my Tom Boy!

Thanks for stopping by and please leave a comment telling me what's your favorite part of this card. I've made an effort to start replying to every comment. I'd love to hear your feedback! Have a great Thursday! Tag your it! It's your turn, go make something beautiful.

I embossed the brown strip with Stampin Up Manhattan Rose Embossing Folder

I added a button from my stash and the sentiment is from Gina K Designs. You can find her producs here

Using My Tools Thursday # 14 - Sail Away

Hello and welcome to my little blog! I'm so glad your here! Please leave a comment about this card, I love to hear your thoughts! Like I promised last week I'm posting a masculine card from the series of cards I made last weekend. For this card, I pulled out an embossing folder, and element from a Cricut cartridge, some fabric paint and a $ stamp.

The tag is cut from From My Kitchen Cricut Cartridge. I used Devine Swirls Cuttlebug embossing folder, sentiment is from Anchors Away JustRite stamp set & gems from JoAnn Fabrics.

I used my copics to color in the image. Colors, W5, C3, BG72 & Y38. I'm so bummed the deminsion on the clouds doesn't show in the picture. If you were to hold the card, the fabric paint shows fluff swirls and gives wonderful texture.

Again, thanks for stopping by and why not make something beautiful of your own today and consider both following me and leaving a comment on this post telling me what you like most. Have a wonderful Thursday and see you back on Scrapbook page Saturday!

owh sketch canvas copy
Here's my version...
I made the center section a bit smaller because I wanted the label pattern to show more and tipped the sentiment rectangle vertical

I doubl;ed the centiment since it was small to cover the size of the box.
A simple card but I think it works for the sketch.

Have a great day and remember to make something beautiful!

Scrapbook Saturday # 9 - Kitchen Helper

Yeah It's Saturday and time for another Scrapbook Saturday page! I love these pictures and couldn't wait to get them layed out on a page. My daughter was helping her aunt make homemade fries for dinner. It took a little muscle as you can see. lol
I used several elements on this layout. I added a label type background and beefed it up by using layering. I added several strips of various patterned paper and scalloped one of them and matted the photos. The knife is cut from Cricut Cartridge From My Kitchen. I embossed the handle with Swiss Dots embossing folder and used silver viva decor to give the blade some shimmer.

Both the potatoes and the knife were embossed and layered. I think the layering helps to make the embellishments pop.

Thanks for checking in and don't forget to follow me and leave comments below. Enjoy your Saturday and try to fit in some time to make something beautiful!

Using Your Tools Thursday # 13 - Serene Sails

Hello Friends! Thanks for checking out my Thursday post. This week I chose to use a few things that had been stashed away. Pattern paper from a DCWV stack, a stamp & watercolor paints. I love when I can grab several things I haven't used in a while and put them together in one card!

So...drum roll please...
I set my mind recently to focus on masculine cards. It's so easy for me to make feminine cards but when a masculine birthday arises I don't have any on hand. So this past weekend I sat down and made 5!

I'll post them over the next several weeks.

This card made Guest Designer on
11/20/13

I used several elements to add rustic texture here. The pattern paper is from DCWV The Guy Stack. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady set

The water was painted using Inkadinkadoo watercolor paints which I haven't used since I bought them probably...shhh, don't tell anyone...2 or more years. Eeak!!! The stamp is from a JustRite stamp set Anchors Away. I also used some twine I bought at Wal-Mart in the jewelry making isle, Chestnut brown ink from Colorbox and a Fiskers crimper tool. I added the bronze brads and pop dotted that section of the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you like my card. Please feel free to browse and leave any comments on this or any of my posts! I certainly hope you leave me a comment. I love to hear your thoughts and what your favorite part of my card is. Have a wonderful Thursday and hope to see you back for my Saturday Scrapbook page. Don't forget to make something beautiful today!

Both cards are colored with Copic markers, BG72, C5, E23 & YG61. The card below is using patterned paper from a 6x6 MME pad, Quilting Bee and the card below is using patterened paper from a kit I received at my Local Scrapbooking store. I believe it comes from Basic Grey, Kneehighs & Bowties

For this card I usedsome embroidery thread and a nice craft color button and the card below I used viva Decor pearl pen in bronze to add some demension to the dots. I also used a Martha Stewart border punch Bubble Bath

I hope you enjoyed viewing my cardS and are inspired to create a special card to give your loved one, friend, co-worker or neighbor. Have a wonderful week and remember to make something beautiful today!

I love this sketch, so simple, so classic, so fast & easy! I felt like in a pink and brown mood. I used some simple elements for contrast and my rule of three in the gems I picked up at JoAnns, ribbon and embroidery thread. I used an Inchy stamp by Inkadinkadoo Flower Garden & the Sentiment is from Hero Arts Say it All.

I used a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder Modern Wallpaper for texture.

Scrapbook Saturday # 8 - Good Company

Hello, It's another post of Scrapbook Saturday! Welcome and i hope you enjoy browseing this poast and any other post on the blog. Feel free to leave comments and this one or any other.

I love this picture of my daughter and step son and just had to show case it in a scrapbook layout. I kept the layout and elements simple so the picture would shine. I added some embossing to the poink strip using Swiss Dots embossing folder which seems to be a goto folder for me. I stamped the journaling shape used from a Stampology set and hand wrote in the journaling, then added some black ribbon and title.

That's it for today. Thanks for visting and enjoy your weekend and please go make something beautiful today!

OWH Midweek Throwdown- Fall

Hello All! Thanks for visiting my blog and checking out my Midweek Throwdown Card. I found this leaf paper in my stash and knew I could pair it with a $ stamp I had to make a nice, simple fall card. I hope you like it! Feel free to leave comments and let me know what you like best about this card.

I used some $ stamps I bought at JoAnn fabrics, some Inkadinkadoo embossing powder in Copper and the card stock is by Bazill

Here's a close up of the embossing. It came out so nice and the feel of the raised design just gives it such a nice touch. I also combines some chocolate brown embossing thread and the twine just to add some interest. I like using the embroidery thread because it's so much cheaper than the jute cord and I find I can coordinate pretty much any color. I bought some in a big bag at JoAnns and then I just add new colors as needed.
Wal-mart sells a pretty good selection for 0.30 each.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Using My Tools Thursday # 12 - Best Wishes & Simple & Sweet

Welcome and thank you for visting my blog. The weather here in MA  has been absolutely wonderful the last few days! Oh how I wish it could be this beautiful 365 days a year but I guess at some point I'd get bored of the constant 70/71 degrees and balmy breeze.

Today for Using My Tools Thursday card I cheated a bit. I opted for a sketch from my collection of sketches book and a left over image for my last card posted on Tuesday. Things here have been crazy busy and while in a panic to complete the sketch challenge card I had a leftover stamped image.

First, here's my card....

Thank you for visiting and please stop by again on Saturday for my Scrapbook Saturday posting. Have a wonderful Thursday! Now it's your turn...make something beautiful!

This is a close up of the flower I cut using a cut file from SVGCuts.com called 3D mums. You can find the link here This is the Dublin Mum. Stationary noted 6x6 Paper Pad
Bazill Ash and blue cardstock

Scrapbook Saturday # 7 - Concert Newbie

Hello Fellow Bloggers! Thank you for visiting my blog space and checking out my latest Scrapbook Saturday Creation! I really had fun making this layout. This was my daughters first concert experience and she was so taken with the opening act. She couldn't believe she could meet him and get an autograph.
For the layout, I had my daughter write her thoughts about the day in her own handwriting. I thought it would give the layout a more personal look.

The guitars are cut from Cricut cartridge Quarter Note and embossed with Swiss Dots and Spots and Dots embossing folders.

Feel free to leave a comment below for this or any post on my blog. I love to hear your comments. They keep me motivated to post! I hope you enjoyed this layout. Be sure to check back for Card Making Monday and for Using My Tools Thursday postings. Have a great day and now it's your turn to make something beautiful!
